Do US citizens need a visa? No — up to 90 days
US passport holders do not need a short-stay visa: you may stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Once ETIAS starts you will need an approved ETIAS travel authorisation (an online pre-screening, not a visa) before boarding. Who can apply where
