VFS Global Visa Application Centre in the UK on behalf of the Embassy of Hungary, London (100 Brompton Road, SW3 1ER), which retains the decision.

Book a biometric appointment through VFS Global's Hungary UK portal. Optional paid add-ons include SMS updates, courier passport return and prime-time slots. The Embassy does not take walk-ins for Schengen visas.

• Valid passport plus a photocopy of the biometric page, valid 3+ months beyond the stay with 2 blank pages

Book early for summer travel and note the operation is cashless - card or postal order only, with the consular fee paid at the appointment rather than in advance.

Hungarian short-stay processing in the UK moved from direct embassy submission to VFS Global on 24 February 2025, so older guidance pointing to the Embassy counter is out of date.

Your nationality decides whether you need a visa; where you legally live decides where you apply. Applications for Hungary are handled by its embassy, consulate or visa centre covering your country of residence — you cannot normally apply in a country you are only visiting.

• If you are not a citizen of the country you apply from, bring your residence permit or long-stay visa — it usually has to stay valid for at least 3 months after your return.
• Visiting several Schengen countries? Apply to your main destination, or — if you split time evenly — to the country you enter first.
• Some passports are visa-exempt for short stays and only need ETIAS travel authorisation instead of a visa; long-stay and work permits are still required for everyone.
• Fees, document lists and appointment systems are set per consulate, so the local Hungary mission for your region always overrides anything on this page.
